Driver taken into custody after ramming LAFD ambulance transporting patient

The woman allegedly brake-checked and struck the rig twice before being taken for evaluation

LOS ANGELES — A woman was taken into custody after allegedly sideswiping and then rear-ending an LAFD ambulance transporting a minor patient.

Paramedics encountered a Chrysler PT Cruiser driving erratically on June 13. As they attempted to pass, the driver began brake-checking the ambulance and ultimately made contact with it, reported.

When paramedics flagged down police officers nearby, the suspect became further agitated and struck the ambulance from behind. The crew then radioed for assistance. No injuries were reported among the firefighters or the patient.

The suspect showed signs of distress and was combative during detainment. She was transported for a physical and mental evaluation. Multiple prescription bottles were found in her vehicle, according to FOX 11.

The patient was safely transferred to another unit for continued transport.
