SALT LAKE CITY 鈥 The National Emergency Medical Services Information System Technical Assistance Center (NEMSIS TAC) has announced the release of the 2024 Public-Release Research Dataset, now the largest publicly available dataset of emergency medical service activations in the United States.

Researchers and others interested in accessing the dataset can request a copy by filling out a form at . Along with the dataset, users will receive access to the 2024 NEMSIS Data User Manual, Data Dictionary, Extended Data Definitions, and Sample SAS code.

鈥淓MS clinicians are the backbone of emergency medical care, responding with skill and dedication in moments of crisis,鈥 Dr. N. Clay Mann, Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine and Principal Investigator for the NEMSIS Technical Assistance Center said. 鈥淭heir efforts make this dataset possible, providing researchers with the insights needed to enhance emergency response and improve patient outcomes nationwide.鈥

The 2024 Public-Release Research Dataset is a subset of the National EMS Database, which compiles EMS data from across U.S. states and territories. Maintained by NEMSIS, the database follows national standards for collecting patient care information resulting from 911 medical calls. The dataset includes 60,298,684 EMS activations reported by 14,756 EMS agencies across 54 states and territories.
