The driver of a car failed to yield to the right of way and crashed into the ambulance, causing it to flip onto its roof

BATAVIA, N.Y. — An ambulance with a patient on board was involved in a rollover crash, .

The crash happened at an intersection on Sept. 5 when the driver of a car failed to yield to the right of way and crashed into the ambulance, causing it to roll over and land on its roof, the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office said.

The driver of the vehicle and its passenger, who was airlifted, were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to WGRZ.

The patient who was in the ambulance at the time of the crash was also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The EMS crew members on board were not injured, the sheriff’s office said.

Fire departments from the Towns of Batavia, Elba and Byron, along with Mercy EMS, responded to the scene.
